Find the value of x + y from the following equation: 2[(x, 5), (7, y - 3)] + [(3, -4), (1, 2)] = [(7, 6), (15, 14)]

Equating the corresponding element we get 

2x + 3 = 7 and 2y – 4 = 14

⇒ x = (7 - 3)/2 and y = (14 + 4)/2

⇒ x = 2 and y = 9 

∴ x + y = 2 + 9 = 11
