Given that

⇒ (x +1) (x + 2) – (x – 1)(x – 3) = 12 +1 

⇒  x2 + 2x + x + 2 – x2 + 3x + x – 3 = 13 

⇒ 7x – 1 = 13 

⇒ 7x = 14 

⇒ x = 2
