Best answer

x2 -3x-10 = 0

x2 -5x + 2x-10 = 0

x(x-5) + 2(x-5)=0

(x-5) (x+2)=0 X = 5, -2

Sum of the roots = -b/a = 3/1

which is same as 5 - 2 = 3

product of the roots = c/a = -10

which is same as 5x(-2) = -10

Hence verified
