Assertion : No yellow precipitate is formed when an excess of a more concentrated (6M) solution of KI is added to a solution containing Pb2+ ions. Reason : PbI2 ↓ (yellow) does not dissolve in excess of dilute solution of KI.

Hint : PbI2 + 2 I   ⇄  [PbI4]2 – colourless.

Reaction is reversible and shifts in backward direction on dilution with water.

(A) Both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

(B) Both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not correct explanation of Assertion

(C) Assertion is true but Reason is false
