A horizontal tube has different cross-sections at two points A and B. The diameter at A is 4.0 cm and that at B is 2 cm. The two manometer arms are fixed at A and B. When a liquid of density 800 Kg / m3 flows through the tube, the difference of pressure between the arms of two manometer is 8 cm. Calculate the rate of flow of the liquid.

From Bernoulli’s principle: p1 +1/2ρ v12 = p2 +1/2ρ v22

From the equation of continuity: A1 v = A2 v2

Pressure difference: p1 – p2 = hρg

These equations give v1
