Under isothermal condition two soap bubbles of radii a and b coalesce to form a single bubble of radius c. If the external pressure is p0 show that surface tension,

T = p0(c3 -a3 -b3)/4(a2 +b2 +c2)

As we know that for a soup bubble, the excess press = 4T/r

External pressure is p0

Applying conservation of mass

µa + µb = µc

Since, temp is constant

i.e., Ta = T= Tc

so the above expression reduces to

pa va + pbvb = pc vc

with the help of equation (1), we have
