A uniform rod of length l is free to move and rotate in gravity free space. When an impulse is given to one end of the rod, perpendicular to its length, its centre of mass moves with velocity v. It will rotate about its centre of mass with angular velocity

Correct Answer is: (b) 6v/l 

J = mv. L = J . l/2 = Iω = (ml2/12)ω.

∴ mv l/2 = ml2/12 ω. 

ω = 6v/l
