The fundamental frequency in an open organ pipe is equal to the third harmonic of a closed organ pipe. If the length of the closed organ pipe is 20cm, the length of the open organ pipe is :- 

(1) 13.2cm 

(2) 8cm 

(3) 12.5cm 

(4) 16cm

(1)  The length of the open organ pipe is 13.3cm.

The answer should be 8 because for third harmonic of closed organ pipe we take n=5
by (266k points)
For open organ pipe, fundamental frequency we take n=1
For closed organ pipe, third harmonic we take n=2
so answer is correct
