Echo-

Echo is a gentle, dream like poem. The poet as the T in the poem has a unique experience of echo in a jungle. He is astonished and spellbound by his calls being echoed back and the reverberations of the sound in the open space in a forest where he is standing now. The whole atmosphere assumes a dream like quality.

The experience of an echo is a very simple and common experience, but in a partiuclar surrounding it becomes unique and forgettable. The poet just says loudly, who called and this goes echoed on and on.

This echo effects the surrounding the leaves in the give give a hissing sound in the sun and the dark air under the trees carries the echo-

'Who called' all around. All this battles the birds as well.  The poet begins to have hallucinations. The imagines unseen persons hiding behind the tree and echoing -,Who cares'. 'Who cares' as ii mocking him. Then the wind falls low and there in silence. But the poet's earns cantinue hearing the echo. The poet is surprised at the unseen or unknown voices or persons who reply to his voice.

The poet in frustration says, with tears in his eyes 'who cares'. This gets echoed in aloud shrill voice as if some complain is being voiced.

The poem presents a beautiful picture. 'Whispering glader',dark air', 'motionless brake', leafy boughs', 'eyes in the green'.
