The coefficient of volume expansion of glycerin is 49 x 10-5 C-1. What is the fractional change in its density for a 30°C rise in temperature?

Here,

r = 49 x 10-5°C-1;

ΔT = 30°C

∴ Fractional change, Δρ/ρ = γΔT

= 49 x 10-5 x 30 = 1.47 x 10-2
