The velocity of a particle 6 ms-1 eastwards changes to 8 ms-1 northwards in 10s. What is the magnitude of the average acceleration during this interval of time?

(b) 1 ms-2.

Answer is (b) 1 ms-2.

∆ν = (j8 – I6) ms-1. here ∆ν = 10 ms-1 and ∆t = 10s.

Therefore a = ∆ν/∆t = 1 ms-2.
