A metallic rod completes its circuit as shown in the figure.The circuit is normal to a magnetic field of B= 0.15 tesla. If the resistance of the rod is 3Ω the force required to move the rod with a constant velocity of 2 m/sec is-

(A) 3.75 × 10–3

(B) 3.75 × 10–2 N

Correct Answer is: (A) 3.75 × 10–3 N

V = Bvl = 0.15 × 2 × 0.5 = 0.15 × 1 = 0.15 volt

F = Bil = 0.15 × 15/3 × .5

= 75 × 0.75 × 10–2 × .5

= 375 × 10–5 = 3.75 × 10–3 N .
