A fly wheel of mass 12.5 kg and diameter 0.36 m rotating at 90 rpm has its speed increased to 720 rpm in 8s. Find the torque applied to flywheel.

ω1 = 2πf1 = 3π rad/sec

ω2 = 2πf2 = 24 π rad/sec 

α = ω2 – ω1/ t = 8.243 rad/s2 

τ = 1α = (Mr2 / 2) α 

τ = 1.669 Nm
