The union of two sets A and B denoted by A∪B, is the set of all those elements which arc either in A or in B or in both A and B.

Thus, AB=(x: x∈A or x∈B)

∴ x ∈ A∪B x ∈ A or x ∈ B

x ∉ A∪B = x ∉ A and z ∉ B

  • A ∪ B =B ∩ A (Commutative Law)
  • (A ∪ B) ∪ C=A ∪ (B ∪ C) (Associative law)
  • A ∪ φ=A
  • A ∪ A=A
  • U ∪ A=U
