Given: 5x – 3 < 7

⇒ 5x < 7 + 3 = 10

∴ x < 10/5 = 2

(i) If x is an integer, solution set = {…, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1}.

(ii) If x is a real number, solution set = (-∞, 2).
