A solution of sodium hydroxide contains 4.8 g of the substance per dm3

(a) What volume of the solution is required to prepare 500 cm3 of decinormal solution. 

(b) What volume of water has to be added to one dm3 of the solution in order to make it exactly decinormal?

∴ Volume of water that should be added to 1000 cm3 of the solution

= 1200 - 1000 = 200 cm3
