Illustrate a glycosidic, peptide and a phosphodiester bond.

(a) Glycosidic bond:

It is a bond formed between two monosaccharide molecules in a polysaccharide. This bond is formed between two carbon atoms of two adjacent monosaccharides.

(b) Peptide bond:

Amino acids are linked by a peptide bond which is between the carbonyl (- COOH) group of one amino acid and amino (- NH2) group of the next amino acid which is formed by dehydration process.

(c) Phosphodiester bond: 

This is the bond present between the phosphate and hydroxyl group of sugar which is called an ester bond. As this ester bond is present on either side, it is called phosphodiester bond.
