A swimmer can swim with velocity of 10 km h-1 w.r.t. the water flowing in a river with velocity of 5 km h-1. In what direction should he swim to reach the point on the other bank just opposite to his starting point?

Let the angle of the swimmer be e w.r.t the horizontal

Cosθ = \(\frac {OA}{AB}\) 

\(\frac {V_\omega}{V_s}\)

⇒ cosθ = \(\frac{1}{2}\)

⇒ θ = 60°.
