Hormones can be divided into four groups on basis of their chemical nature.

  • Peptide, polypeptide, protein hormones

Eg: insulin, glucagon

  • Steroids

Eg: cortisol, testosterone

  • Lodothyronines

Eg: thyroid hormones

  • Amino – acid derivatives

Eg: epinephrine
