Best answer

1. The initial momantum of the hammer is,

m × v = 1 kg × 6 ms-1

= 6 kg ms-1

= 6 Ns

Impulse = F. t = Δ P

= 0 – mv

= – 6 Ns.

2. The force on the hammer

F = Impulse/time

= 6Ns/0.1s

= 60 N.

3. Retardation = a

= F/m

= 60N/1kg

= 60 ms-2.
