(i) Geographical conditions required {or the growth of maize crop in India:
(a) It is a Kharif crop which requires a temperature between 21oC to 27oC.
(b) It grows well in alluvial soil.
(ii) Use of modern inputs such as HYV Seeds, fertilisers and irrigation have contributed to the increased production of maize.
