Faraday's second law: 

  • When the same quantity of electricity passes through solutions of different electrolytes, the amounts of the substances liberated at the electrodes are directly proportional to their chemical equivalents.
  • The quantity needed to liberate one gram equivalent of a substance if 96,495 coulombs and it is known as 'Faraday' F.

  • where w is the mass of the substance in grams while E is its chemical equivalent i.e. weight in gms per equivalent.

Faraday’s Second Law states that ” the mass of a substance deposited or liberated at any electrode on passing a certain amount of charge is directly proportional to its equivalent weight of the substance”.

That is w ∝ E
