A 93.2 MHz carrier is frequency modulated by a 5 kHz sinewave. The resultant FM signal has a frequency deviation of 50kHz.

a). Find the carrier swing of the FM wave.

b). Determine highest and lowest frequencies attained by modulated signal.

fc = 93.2 MHz

fm = 5kHz.Δf = 50kHz

a) Carrier swing = 2Δf

= 2(50kHz) = 100kHz

b) fmax = fc + Δf

= 93.2 x 106 + 5 x 103

= 103(93.2 x 103 + 5)

= 93.205 MHz

fmin = fc - Δf

= 93.2 x 106 - 5 x 103

= 103(93.2 x 103 - 5)

= 93.195 MHz

c) m = \(\frac{\Delta f}{f_m}\)

\(\frac{50}{5}\)

= 10
