A 10g bullet having a charge of 4.00μC is fired at a speed of 270m/s in a horizontal direction. A vertical magnetic field of 500μT exists in the space. Find the deflection of the bullet due to the magnetic field as it travels through 100m. Make appropriate approximations.

Best answer

m = 10g = 10 × 10–3kg

q = 4.00μc = 400 × 10–6C

υ = 270m/s, B = 500μt = 500 × 10–6Tesla

Force on the particle = quB = 4 × 10–6 × 270 × 500 × 10–6 = 54 × 10–8 (K)

Acceleration on the particle = 54 × 10–6m/s2 (K)

Velocity along i  and acceleration along k  along x-axis the motion is uniform motion and along y-axis it is accelerated motion.
