Let us consider the extension produced be ‘x’ cm.

Weight (gm)250700
Extension (cm)3.5x

250/3.5 = 700/x

By cross-multiplying

250x = 700(3.5)

250x = 2450

x = 2450/250

= 9.8

∴ The extension produced is 9.8 cm for the weight of 700 gm.
