A floral design of a floor is made up of 16 tiles which are triangular, the sides of the triangle being 9 cm, 28 cm and 35 cm. Find the cost of polishing the tiles at the rate of 50p per cm² .

In the given figure there are 16 triangles. 

Each sides of triangle are a = 28 cm, b = 9 cm, c = 35 cm. 

Perimeter of triangle = a + b + c 

= 28 + 9 + 35 = 72 cm.

∴ Area of 16 triangles = 16 × 88.2 = 1411.2 sq.cm. 

Polish expenditure for 1 sq.cm. = 50 p = Re. 0.5. 

∴ Polish expenditure for 1411.2sq. cm. =? 

= 1411.2 × 0.5 

= Rs 705.6
