Formula unit mass is the sum of the atomic masses of all atoms present in a formula unit of a compound. It is calculated by adding the atomic masses of all the atoms present in one formula unit.

Formula unit mass of (NH4)2SO4

= 14 x 2 + 4 x 2 + 32 + 16 x 4

= 132u
