  • Chlorine in the bleaching powder is responsible for the bleaching effect. 
  • Baking Soda (NaHCO3) Washing Soda (Na2CO3)(Sodium Carbonate) 
  • Sodium carbonate is manufactured by the thermal decomposition of sodium hydrogen carbonate obtained from the Solvay process. 
  • The sodium carbonate obtained in this process is dry.
