Best answer
  • Meiosis is a way of cell division in which number of chromosomes get halved.
  • After fertilization chromosomes become equal to that of somatic cells.
  • After fertilization Mitosis takes place for the rest of the stages of life.
  • Hence chromosomes remain constant.
