When the body moves downwards, upwards and remains at the same position when we increase temperature.

Let f= fraction of volume of the body submerged in liquid.
\(f = \frac{\text{Volume of body submerged in liquid}}{\text{Total volume of body}}\)
\(f_1 = \frac{v_1}{v_0}\) at θ1oC

Case I: Body moves downward if f2 > f1 means γL>3αS

Case II: Body moves upward if f2 < f1 means γ< 3αS

Case III: Body remains at same position if f2 = f1 means γL= 3αS
