Find out the following in the electric circuit given in Figure 

(a) Effective resistance of two 8 Ω resistors in the combination 

(b) Current flowing through 4 Ω resistor 

(c) Potential difference across 4 Ω resistance 

(d) Power dissipated in 4 Ω resistor 

(e) The difference in ammeter readings, if any.

(a) 

R = R1 R2 / (R1+ R2

\(\frac{8\times8}{8+8}\)

= 4 Ω

(b) 

I = V/R

\(\frac{8}{4}+\frac{8\times8}{8+8}\)

= 8/8

= 1 A

(c) 

V = IR 

= 1 x 4 

= 4 V

(d) 

P= I2

 = 12 x 4 

= 4 W

(e) Same current flows through each element in a series circuit.
