The new headmaster saw an old woman from the village hobble right across the compound, through a marigold flower-bed and the hedges. He went up and found faint signs of an almost disused path from the village across the school compound to the bush on the other side.
नये प्रधानाध्यापक ने गाँव की एक वृद्ध महिला को गेंदे की क्यारी तथा बाडों से लंगड़ाकर पार करके जाते हुए देखा। वह वहाँ गया और उसने वहाँ पर गाँव से विद्यालय प्रांगण से होकर दूसरी तरफ की झाड़ी के आर-पार एक लगभग प्रयोग में न लिए गये मार्ग के हल्के चिह्न देखे।
