The Magi were three wise men from the East. They gave precious gifts to infant Jesus. These gifts were the tokens of their love and respect for Jesus. The author called Jim and Della the Magi because they showed utter devotion and respect for each other. They were very poor and did not have enough money to buy gifts for each other but they loved each other so much that they were determined to give gifts to each other on the occasion of Christmas. They did not hesitate to sell even their most valuable possessions. They were the Magi as their love for each-other was limitless.
