The story has been given an appropriate title “To-morrow” which symbolises whimsical state of mind of Captain Hagberd. After his wife’s death and his son’s leaving his home, he (Captain Hagberd) develops a cynical optimistic attitude towards his son that he will certainly return to him tomorrow. The irony is that this cynicism is so much deep rooted in his mind that even when his son comes to him, he refuses to recognise him and continues to harbour this attitude that his son will certainly come tomorrow. Thus the word “To-morrow” becomes the central point of the story. So it is clear that the title of this story is a suitable title for it.
कहानी को ‘To-morrow’ एक उचित शीर्षक दिया गया है जोकि कप्तान हैगबर्ड के दिमाग की सनकी स्थिति को प्रतिबिम्बित करता है। उसकी पत्नी की मृत्यु के पश्चात और उसके लड़के के घर से भाग जाने के बाद वह (कप्तान हैगबर्ड) एक सनकी आशावादी रवैया अपने दिमाग में विकसित कर लेता है कि उसका लड़का “कल” लौट आयेगा। विडम्बना यह है कि यह सनक उसके दिमाग में इतना अधिक गहराई तक जमी हुई है कि तब भी जब उसका लड़का उसके पास आता है, वह उसे पहचानने से इन्कार कर देता है, और इस सनक को अब भी अपने दिमाग में पाले रहता है कि उसका लड़का कल आयेगा। इस प्रकार “कल” इस कहानी का केन्द्र बिन्दु बन जाता है। अत: यह स्पष्ट है कि इस कहानी का शीर्षक “To-morrow’ एक उपयुक्त शीर्षक ही है।
