It is so because she could not persuade him to remain at home. Harry was a vagabond sort of person. He was accustomed to swindle (to trick somebody in order to get money) and his return from there was impossible. So her tender and innocent heart was broken. She was drowned into the sea of grief and disappointment.
ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि वह उसको घर के लिए फुसला नहीं सकी। वह एक निरुद्देश्य घूमने वाला व्यक्ति था। वह ठगने का आदी था एवं वहाँ से उसका लौटना असम्भव था अर्थात् अपनी ठगने की आदत को वह छोड़ नहीं सकता था। इसलिए उसका (बेसी का) कोमल एवं निर्दोष हृदय टूट गया। वह दु:ख और निराशा के सागर में डूब गई।
