Describe the conflict of emotions felt by Eveline on the day she had decided to elope with Frank.

1. घर के प्रति भावनाओं का संघर्ष – वह परिवार की वस्तुओं का पुनः अवलोकन करती है। वह दु:खपूर्वक कहती है कि वह अब इन वस्तुओं को फिर से नहीं देख पाएगी।

2. परिवार के सदस्यों के प्रति – वह अपनी माँ को किए गए वायदे को याद करती है, जब वह मृत्यु-शैया पर थी, कि वह अपने छोटे भाई बहिनों की देखभाल करेगी। वह उन दिनों को याद करती है जब उसके पिताजी उन्हें पिकनिक पर ले गये।

3. राष्ट्र के प्रति – वह अपने पिताजी को इटली के गायक को कोसते हुए सुनती है कि जो गली में वाद्य यंत्र बजा रहा था।
