Respected teachers and dear friends! Today, I shall express my views on the importance of English.
English is spoken all over the world. India is a land of diversity. Different people speak different languages. English is a link language for them. With the invention of internet, no country can depend only on its local language. We can communicate with other countries only when we know English. To understand medicine, technology and trade we must know English language because it is an international language.
Without knowing English, no country can progress. We are champions in information technology only because we have a good knowledge of English. It has a rich literature and student can enjoy it after learning it. Today, when the whole world is being computerised, we cannot stick to the old idea of not accepting a foreign language. Today, more than 80% I.A.S. officers are present in India who got their education in English medium schools. English is the language of the constitution, the Supreme Court, the High Courts and many official departments. English is deeply rooted in the soil of India. We have to accept this international language which is important to lead us to the path of progress.
