In the figure OP = 5 cm and radius of circle = 3 cm, then find the length of tangent OPT drawn from point P circle.

(A) 3 cm

(B) 4 cm

Answer is (B) 4 cm

∵ ∠OTP = 90°

From right angled ∆OTP

OP2 = OT2 + PT2

PT2 = OP2 – OT2

= 52 – 32

= 25 – 9 = 16

PT = \(\sqrt { 16 }\)

PT = 4 cm
