There are 30 disc in box, on which the numbers 1 to 30 are marked. If a disc is drawn at random from the box. find the probability that the disc drawn has :

(i) a two digit number

(ii) a perfect square

Given that the base contains 30 discs.

(i) The two digits number 1 to 30 

= 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30

The number of favourable outcomes = 21

The total number of all possible outcomes = 30

The probability that the disc drawn has a two digits number

\(\frac { 21 }{ 30 }\) = \(\frac { 7 }{ 10 }\)

(ii) The perfect square numbers in 1 to 30 

= 1, 4, 9, 16, 25.

The number of favourable outcomes = 5

Total number of all possible outcomes = 30

∴ The probability that the disc drawn contains a perfect square number 

\(\frac { 5 }{ 30 }\) = \(\frac { 1 }{ 6 }\)
