L.H.S = 8567 – 1 = 8566

R.H.S = 9999 – 8566 = 1433

∴ 8567 x 9999

= 8567 – 1 / 9999 – 8566

= 85661433

(b) 512 x 99

L.H.S = 512 – 1 = 511

R.H.S = 99 – 511

∴ 512 x 99

= 511 / 99 – 511

= 51199 – 511

= 50688
