As soon as the author approaches the home of his friend Balraj, he finds them active and extra busy but they show all the hospitality. When the author desires to return, his friend proposes to drop him at the university. He promises his wife to return within five minutes but it takes half an hour to cover the one side way. Therefore, Balraj will take one hour to return and what will happen when he explains the difference of delay of fifty five minutes.
It compels the readers to laugh by thinking at the condition of his friend. After it, the story becomes more funny when the author gets down at Chanderghat to buy a soap. After buying the soap quickly, he sits upon a bike and the bike goes to the destination. The author finds that the bike has crossed his destination, he shouts to stop there and he gets down. Then they look at each other and say – “Oh, no! But then where is Mallu ?” Oh, “no! But then where is Ballu ?” Here the story becomes the most laughable.
जैसे ही लेखक अपने दोस्त बलराज के घर पहुँचता है वह उन्हें सजग व अतिरिक्त व्यस्त पाता है। लेकिन वे पूरी मेहमाननवाजी करते हैं। लेखक के लौटने की इच्छा करने पर उसका मित्र उसे विश्वविद्यालय छोड़ने का प्रस्ताव करता है। वह अपनी पत्नी से पाँच मिनट में लौटने का वादा करता है। लेकिन उसके घर से एक तरफ के रास्ते को पूरा करने में आधा घण्टा लगता है। अतः बलराज को लौटने में एक घण्टा लगेगा और क्या होगा जब वह पचपन मिनट की देरी के अन्तर को समझाएगा।
उसके मित्र की दशा के बारे में सोचकर यह पाठकों को हँसने पर बाध्य कर देता है। इसके बाद कहानी अधिक हास्यप्रद तब हो जाती है जब लेखक साबुन खरीदने को चन्दरघाट पर उतरता है। वह बहुत शीघ्रता से साबुन खरीदकर तेजी से एक बाइक पर बैठ जाता है और वह बाइक तेजी से उसकी मंजिल की तरफ चल पड़ती है। उसके गंतव्य से आगे निकलने पर वह बाइक रुकवाता है तथा उतर जाता है। फिर वे एक-दूसरे को देखकर बोलते हैं-‘ओह, नहीं ! तो मल्लू कहाँ है?’ ‘ओह, नहीं ! तो बल्लू कहाँ है?’ यहाँ कहानी सबसे अधिक हास्यप्रद हो जाती है।
