Distance covered (s) = 50 m;

Initial velocity (u) = 20 ms-1;

Final velocity (ν) = Zero;

Acceleration of the stone (a) =?

Force of friction (F) =?

Using the third equation, we have

Minus sign shows that the force of friction acts in the opposite direction.
