We are given that

Mass of object (m) = 100 kg

Initial velocity (u) = 5 m/s

Final velocity (ν) = 8 m/s

Time = 6 sec.

Initial momentum of the object

= mu = 100 x 5 = 500 kg m/s

∴ Final momentum of the object

= mv – 100 x 8 = 800 kg m/s

∴ Magnitude of the force exerted on the object

(F) = \(\frac{\textit{Change in momentum}}{Time}\)

\(\frac{800-500}{6}=\frac{300}{6}\)

= 50 Newton
