Travels were rarely conducted before the Second World War since there was a shortage of means of travelling. The journey was made on foot or using animals, many difficulties had to be faced and a long period of time was taken to reach the destination. Danger and risks were many, thus journeying was a very difficult task. Due to this difficulty, arose the French word “travail”, meaning difficulty which is derived from “travel”. However, journeys have now become easy, safe and more convenient because of modern means of transportation, development in the service sector and communication. In spite of the difference in the meaning of travel and tourism, both are jointly used in practice.
