The poet was passing through really bad circumstances. Poverty and adversities had made him a broken man. He looked towards his friends for help in this hour of need. His search proved quite futile. Even his acquaintances deserted him. They gave him unwanted counsel but didn’t lend any money to help him. All these circumstances made him a bitter and disappointed man.
कवि वास्तव में बुरी परिस्थितियों से गुजर रहा था। प्रतिकूल परिस्थितियों तथा गरीबी ने उसे तोड़ दिया था। जरूरत के समय उसने सहायता हेतु अपने दोस्तों की तरफ देखा, लेकिन उसकी खोज निरर्थक साबित हुई। यहाँ तक कि उसके संबंधियों ने भी उसे अकेला छोड़ दिया। वे उसे अवांछित सलाह देते रहे, किंतु कोई आर्थिक सहायता नहीं की। इन सभी स्थितियों ने उसे तिक्त तथा निराश आदमी बना दिया।
