Rousseau was one of the intellectuals who played a significant role in the state revolution of France. He brought to light the prevalent inequalities and repression in society. His contention was, “No man in the state should be rich enough to purchase the other and no one should be too poor to feel compelled to sell himself’. Napoleon had even said that ‘Had Rousseau not been born, the revolution of France would have been impossible’.
