Brahmagupta was a great astronomer. At the age of 30 years he wrote the great composition named Brahmasphutsiddhanta in 628. Besides he also wrote KhandaKhadyakam which includes the basic mathematical rules. He explained how to find the cube and cube-root of an integer and laid rules facilitating the computation of square and square roots. He gave the solution of the general linear equation. He is considered the first to formulate the concept of Zero. He dedicated a substantial portion of his work to geometry.
