Following are the four rules to make the diagram attractive and effective:
1. Attraction and Cleanliness : Diagrams are visual aids for the presentation of statistical data. Besides being pleasant to the eyes, they leave a lasting impression on the mind. Thus, diagrams should be clean/neat, interesting and attractive.
2. Accuracy: While giving an attractive form to diagrams, accuracy must be taken care of, since confusing results are obtained from inaccurate and erroneous pictures.
3. Index : While constructing the diagram, the various symbols used (points, lines, shades, rectangles, etc.) must be clarified, giving indications on the bottom right comer of the diagram, so that the picture could be understood clearly.
4. Simplicity: In order to understand the diagram easily, it should be generally simple. This prevents confusion for the reader.
