1. Distillation: Process in which the components of a substance or liquid mixture are separated by heating it to a certain temperature and condensing the resulting vapors.

2. Evaporation and condensation: In evaporation, matter changes from a liquid to a gas. In condensation, matter changes from a gas to a liquid.

The method of obtaining pure liquid from a solution by evaporation and condensation is called distillation.
