The government established the The National Development Council (NDC) on 6th August 1952. Its ex-office chairman is the Prime Minister and its secretary is also the secretary of the Planning Commission. Its other members include chief ministers of states, all the members of the cabinet, administrators of union territories and members of the Planning Commission.
